Who are you?

Who are you? What are you calling yourself? Very often we will introduce ourselves using our name. Sometimes we call ourselves various titles mom, dad, teacher, Mrs. so and so and Mr. So and So, brother etc.. You get the picture. However, what are YOU calling yourself?

We are faced with a chance several times a day to declare who we are. When you make a mistake do you call yourself dumb, stupid and ugly? Do you look in the mirror and ever call yourself fat or worthless? Do you ever tell yourself you will never be there or never be that? What are YOU calling yourself?

In Ephesians 4:29 God says this "Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen."

When he tells us to speak words that is helpful for building others up, would that not also include ourselves? You need to understand that God loved you so much that he gave his only son so that you would not perish. You are beautiful and wonderfully made.

Psalms 139:13-14: 13For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made

God calls you His masterpiece! Ephesians 2:10 For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.

Would you insult God? Would you insult anything that God created? If your friend made the same mistakes or asked you how they looked would you respond the same way? Remember the next time you are tempted to insult yourself that in doing so you are insulting God Himself because you are HIS creation and he said you are a masterpiece.

The next time you feel tempted to call yourself something that does not line up with God's word just stop and remember to say " I am a masterpiece and I am beautiful and I am worthy!"

Lets Pray:

Heavenly Father we come before you to ask that you would forgive us for not keeping a guard over our tongues. Please Lord forgive us for the times we insult ourselves and in doing so we insult you, so Lord please help us to remember how special we are and how much you love us. Jesus help us to replace our negative words with words that edify others and ourselves. Thank you God that in you we are made complete. Thank you God that it is through Jesus we find our worth. It is not in anything or anyone else but in Christ that we find our value. We are valuable to you Lord therefore help us to know it about ourselves. In Jesus Name Amen!
