What???Really???Grrrr!

I know pretty weird title. This image captures exactly how I am feeling today. Two weeks ago I went shopping for a new office chair at a local office store. My luck the chair I liked was not in stock at any of their locations. So, they suggested we order there at the store and they will deliver to our home. Easy peasy right? WRONG! This chair was supposed to be delivered May 19th, then May 21st, then today May 24th. Still not here so it is in transit and they will make an appointment for the delivery when they call us tomorrow. Here I sit in my old chair still waiting on my order. I am beyond frustrated. I made sure everyone I talked to know that I am frustrated. This reminded me though of how often that we have something going on in our life where we are believing for a breakthrough. We think we are going to get our breakthrough and then there is another setback, and another setback. How often does God remind us to wait. We are to wait with humility trusting him in that process. Many times people will give up right before their breakthrough. All throughout scriptures God put people through waiting periods. Look at Abraham and Sarah, Sarah was an old woman before God gave her a baby. Sarah became so inpatient that she actually had her husband lay with another woman in efforts to be a mom. Yet, this still did not satisfy her. The Israelites wondered through the wilderness 40 years looking for the promised land. They would doubt and then God would remind them he would eventually take them to the promised land. Just think 40 years? I am not sure I could wait 40 years for my chair. Probably at some point I would get my money back and get get a different one. Maybe though that chair would not bring me the joy and peace the first one would have. You see anytime you do things outside God's timing it will not give you the satisfaction like it will if you just wait for what he has in store. In our waiting we learn things about ourselves. I know for me God had to help me see the positive in my situation. I was concerned about the chair being delivered and someone stealing it. This way is better, I will make an appointment for it to be delivered at a time right for us. It might seem silly but I truly did feel God convict me. I was not being nice. In your waiting learn to trust God that what might seem like a setback is a set up for you to show someone else kindness and understanding.

Show me Your ways, O Lord;

Teach me Your paths.

Lead me in Your truth and teach me,

For You are the God of my salvation;

On You I wait all the day. (Psalm 25:4-5)

So What are you waiting for?
