This is Memorial Day weekend. It is a time that we set to remember those who have sacrificed their lives so that we may live free. Each one of those headstones represents a father, brother, son, friend that never came back to their family. They are doctors, preachers, teachers, mechanics, writers and so much more. Every one of them has a story.
It makes me think what will your story be one day when you are nothing more than a headstone. On every headstone there are two dates and a dash. That dash is short. I have said before we need to be careful with our dash. It is short as far as our physical time here on earth. However the legend, memories and sacrifices last a lifetime. What are you doing with your dash? In the short time you have here what are you doing with your dash that pleases the Lord?
I am not criticizing anyone. It just makes me think we have only one lifetime how will people remember you? How will they remember me? I personally think that we should spend our lives being kind and willing to serve other people. So many think of only themselves and go through life like the Toby Keith song "What About Me". So I ask what have you sacrificed for another person? Would you lay your life down for another person? Only if that person is someone you know and love right? Our veterans, our police and other servants live a thankless life. People just expect them to die for them. Where would we be without them? We need them and they deserve our respect and our appreciation. They should be honored every single day. Salute that flag standing tall and with respect knowing that it represents those that died to give us this gift of freedom. Pray for our nation, our servants and those that are running it to hear from God.
Thank you veterans and families. Thank you and May God bless you!
John 15:12-13
12 My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.13 Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.
