This past week we celebrated Independence Day. That day represents our freedom from Britain and the rule of King George. The signers risked everything so that we could be free to worship Jesus Christ. What does that really mean? That might mean a lot of different things to many people.
Have you ever been to a church where everyone sits there and the preacher talks? They play a couple of hymns then they are done. People are not praising God, they are not raising their hands to worship because in these kinds of churches they have a false belief of "don't make a noise during the sermon." This is a very legalistic way to worship God. I call this a dead church. There is no life in a church like this. This is the kind of legalistic way of doing church that has pushed so many away. It is NOT scriptural at all.
When you give your life to Jesus Christ his spirit comes to live inside you. There is a freedom inside you as you dive deeper into his word. There is a joy of the Lord that comes from your soul. There is smiling, laughing and worshipping our Lord and praising him with hands raised high. There is freedom to say Amen and freely worship Him.
Psalm 33:1-3
Sing for joy in the Lord, O you righteous ones;
Praise is becoming to the upright.
Give thanks to the Lord with the lyre;
Sing praises to Him with a harp of ten strings.
Sing to Him a new song;
Play skillfully with a shout of joy.
Psalm 95:1
O come, let us sing for joy to the Lord,
Let us shout joyfully to the rock of our salvation.
When Jesus gave his life on the cross not only did he take our sins so that we could repent, worship and be saved from hell ; he also opened a door to our Heavenly Father.
Hebrews 4:16
Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.....
Another version says boldly come to the throne.....
We can talk to the Lord anytime we want to talk to him. We pray to him, we can ask him for anything. He is concerned with the big thing but he is also concerned with the little things. There is not one thing we can not lay before our Lord. You are never not worthy. He loves you and will always meet you where you are.
We are called to have a spiritual relationship with Jesus NOT a religious connection. Religion is based on man based laws where a spiritual relationship is between you and Jesus. It is a connection. It is a freedom!
So let down all that hinders you to freely worship Jesus. You should be jumping for joy, raising your hands, talking to Him and enjoying his presence. Start with doing it at home turn on the worship music stand up raise your hands and SHOUT to the Lord. Just shout Jesus right where you are. Be Free! Whom the son sets free is free indeed.
Lets Pray:
Father we come boldly to your throne of Grace we ask that you would remove anything that would hinder our worship. Give us courage and fill our hearts with the joy of the Lord. We love you Lord in Jesus name!
